Collection Info
Shipbuilding has a proud history in Aberdeen, developing as a major industry at the harbour in the late 1700s until the closure of the last yard, Hall, Russell & Co. in 1992. One of the first maritime objects collected by AAGM is a half model of the 1891 Aberdeen built steamer 'Thermopylae', and the collection includes many more models, plans, drawings, photographs, tools and ship parts associated with shipbuilding and Aberdeen built ships.
