Once it was simply ‘derrin’ do’ and brute strength against the elements. Today, changes in equipment, personnel and organisation have all helped improve water safety in and around Aberdeen. However, it still requires a special sort of person who can brave a howling gale in a small boat or helicopter to save the lives of those in peril at sea.
This new exhibition coincides with the 200th anniversary of the RNLI and the near centenary of their arrival in Aberdeen.
