COLLISION with GRANGEMOUTH SHIP. To-day, the Admiralty Division of the Court of Justice, London —before Justice Butt, assisted by Trinity Masters - the action brought by the owners of the s.s. CLYDACK, of Grangemouth, against owners the s.s. BENAMAIN, of Aberdeen, came for hearing. It appeared that the two vessels came into collision about 1.25 A.M. on 3d October last in the Baltic Sea. The CLYDACK was a voyage from Rostock to Hernosand in water ballast, while the BENAMAIN was on a voyage from Koenigsburg to Rotterdam with a cargo of wheat and hemp. After the CLYDACK was struck by the BENAMAIN she began to sink. Nevertheless, according to the plaintiff's case, the BENAMAIN took no notice, although hailed, and sailed away. The crew of the CLYDACK then steered her for the land, but were obliged to abandon her deep water, and she was lost with everything board of her. The defendants set up a counter-claim for the damage sustained by their vessel, alleging that the collision was brought about solely through the neglect of the CLYDACK. Mr Bigham Q.C, and Mr L. E. Pyke appealed for the plaintiffs; and Sir W. Phillimore and Mr O. Barnes for the defendants.
