General History:
05/12/1949: Keel laid on Berth No. 4
30/06/1950: Launched. 29.5 weeks after keel was laid. Named by Mrs Thorkelsson, wife of the owner’s superintendent.
09/07/1950: Engine and winch on board.
30/12/1950: Handed over. Registered at Vatneyri.
01/04/1951: Renamed THORSTEINN INGOLFSSON.
04/03/1951: Sailed from Aberdeen.

Sister to ANDVARI, Yard No. 825 & DROFN, Yard No. 826.
Built as the HREFNA and renamed THORSTEINN INGOLFSSON at registration. Hrefna is Icelandic for Minke Whale.

"Named by Mrs Thorkelsson whose husband is supervising construction of the vessels."

Engine details: Steam by screw, inverted, surface condensing, triple expansion engine, 16½” x 28½” x 47” with 30” stroke, 1240 i.h.p. H.R. Engine No. 3/48.

Boiler: 1 single boiler; heating area (ft^2) 4035; diamter 16' 0"; length 11' 0"; 3 Deighton section 45¾” diameter furnaces; pressure (p.s.i) 225
Propeller: 11’ 3” diameter, 4-bladed, solid, manganese bronze.
