About MeSmall disc with grained edge inscribed on both sides with the name of the company, the branch address (in this case Broad Street, Aberdeen) and other details.

Tea checks were issued most notably by the London and Newcastle Tea Company. Their inscriptions included the amount of tea purchased and they were exchangeable for gifts from the company's catalogue.

The company was formed at Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1875 and opened branches in North-east England, Scotland and Ireland. It supplied tea, coffee and groceries to the general public at wholesale prices.
