About MeThis brooch is an example from the 'Pressed Desert Plants' series of work, the result of a study undertaken by Blyfield of 100 year old plant specimens collected by a missionary from a remote desert in South Australian in 1900. This preoccupation with botanical specimens looks to traditional sources, while her metalworking process is quite innovative. She chooses oxidised (a process where metal is exposed to a sulphur solution in order to turn it dark) white metal and enamel materials to create this delicate brooch which takes the shape of a plant frond.

More About Me
The brooch is inspired by 100-year-old plant specimens of Australia, but made through modern metalworking processes!
