Percy Wyndham Lewis (1882-1957) was a painter, novelist and critic. He was a founding member of the Camden Town Group in 1911 and at the second Post Impressionist exhibition of 1912-13 showed some the earliest non-representational paintings in Europe. These works looked forward to the paintings of his Vorticist period, a movement that he founded and which was, in effect, the British equivalent of Cubism.
