About MeThis transistor radio was a 21st birthday present for Mrs Finnie.

Transistors replaced valves as the means of amplifying sound during the 1950s. Much smaller than valves, and not needing to warm up in order to work, the transistor meant radio design could become smaller and realistically portable.
