About MeThese two large granite figures adorn the circular built flats which were designed by a B. Gardner in 1938 and completed in 1947- 8. The building won the Saltire Award in 1949. The granite merchants were Taggart. The sculptural reliefs which, like the building, are in an Art Deco style, are integral to the architecture. On the South Mount Street facade a female figure, pouring water, is positioned over the large entrance archway which leads into the centre courtyard. On the Leadside Road facade another female figure, on horseback, is positioned over another entrance arch.
