About MeThis memorial, set upon a stepped base, consists of a fifteen feet high triangular granite pillar which tapers slightly and rises to a simple cornice and platform on top of which there is a bronze angel holding on high a laurel wreath. This figure stands between an unusual combination of three mythical heads fused to one another, each facing out from the acute angle formed by the shaft. The main panel of the monument faces to the N.W. and beneath the angel is depicted in relief the regimental badge of the Gordon Highlanders. Laurel wreaths forming a circle rest upon an X-shaped cross and contain the words Gordon Highlanders, Egypt, India. A sphinx and a tiger seperate the words Egypt and India. This is front facing. To the left is a stag surrounded by leaves and the words bydand forming a sheild shape, the badge of the Aberdeen Volunteers. The remainder of the shaft has no other inscription.Gordon Highlanders Regiment
