About MeAyrshire whitework christening robe worn in the 1850s by the five children of the Reverend and Mrs J Leslie of the Manse of Udny. The heavily embroidered robe has short puffed and frilled sleeves. The wide square bodice has a triangular floral embroidered yoke with a delicate band of flowers at the top of each sleeve. The very long full skirt has cartridge pleating at the the waistband. A triangular shaped centre panel also features Ayrshire whitework embroidery, and is flanked by two plain robings with notched scalloped edges, similar to the decorative hem.
