About MeArchie Strachan, also known as A.J.B. Strachan was one of Aberdeen's best known photographers.
Born in Aberdeen in 1915 he was an apprentice to the photographer Fred Hardie, himself a former apprentice to George Washington Wilson.
A.J.B. Strachan photographed most of the important granite buildings in Aberdeen including a commission by Aberdeen City Council to photograph the entire length of Union Street. He also had contracts with many of the shipyards in Aberdeen, in particular Hall Russell's, and with Rubislaw Quarry.
A.J.B. Strachan retired in 1979 and died in January 1982.
