About MeThis photograph shows James McBey sketching in the sand in Palestine. It is printed onto a postcard and on the back is a handwritten letter to a Mrs. Bryce, dated 15 November 1917, in which he bemoans living in a land of no post offices, paper, known faces or cooked meals, as well as not having seen "a female" since the middle of August. "Awful!" is the word with which he elects to sign off.
