Scott was commissioned after Piper Alpha and the requirement for greater safety and separation of facillities increased the complexity of such installations which to those unfamiliar to it can be confusing. Whilst many staff do not regularly go beyond their own particular sections (eg catering and such), and often workers may be only on the inatallation for a short period to undertake a specific job.
As part of the Offshore Safety Regulations it is obligatory that all staff have an idea of the layout and the basic rules of how the platform functions as well as in the case of an emergency. Safety inductions are an integral part of the obligatory safety regime and safety case. This booklet formed part of an induction and familiarisation session for Scott platform for a worker newly arrived on the installation.
