About MeMechanical calculating machine originally used by Dr W.O.Kermack, Head of the chemical laboratory of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Along with Colonel Mckendrick he studied the statistics of human disease and constructed a mechanical model of epidemics; the calculating machine was a tool in this research. W.O. Kermack graduated in 1918 from Aberdeen University.
