About MeBrown envelope addressed to the Parent or Guardian of Rhoda May, Aberdeen, containing correspondence sent on 4th June 1964 from Aberdeen Academy during the outbreak of typhoid in Aberdeen. A covering letter from the Rector explains the contents of the envelope: ten sheets of assignments to be completed by pupils at home in order to minimise disruption to their studies whilst the school is closed. The sheets include suggested readings and questions for Year IV Physics, Chemistry, French, English, Geography and German with the deadlines of 19th June and 3rd July.In the early summer of 1964 Aberdeen was in the grip of a typhoid epidemic that hospitalised over five hundred people and unofficially quarantined the remainder of the city's population.
