About MeMetal length with hook extending in a gentle S shape and ending in a tear drop shaped weight. Probably blacksmith made. This kind of plumbing iron used to keep solder in pots at melting point (i.e. not for soldering as such). The iron was heated to red heat and placed in pot of solder which was being used away from brazier.
