About MeBlack heavy duty box (studded construction with full size lid covers the box) with blue reinforced corner patches and metal edges, with a blue canvas strap and buckle to hold closed.The top of the box is printed "CLAREMONT LAUNDRY / 40 CLAREMONT STREET / Tel. ABERDEEN 52255 / 12 61 ENFIELD BOX CO. LTD., ENFIELD, MIDDX." The ends of the box are numbered 258 and at some point a white adhesive label has been added by the family and labelled by hand "TOYS".
The inside of the box has a printed adhesive manufacturer’s label reading "2 YEAR Guarantee / This is guaranteed to remain good / and sound for two years from date of delivery. / IF THE BOX BREAKS IN ONE YEAR FROM / DEC 1961 / We will either repair it to your satisfaction, or at our option, / credit your account with the proportionate remaining guaran- / tee value of the box, / Signed / Charles P Brodie / MANAGING DIRECTOR / ENFIELD BOX CO. LTD. / QUEENSWAY ENFIELD MIDDLX / TEL: HOWARD 1888".
A family on Anderson Drive, Aberdeen used Claremont Laundry for their household laundry - the sheets would be sent to the laundry in this box and returned washed and ironed.
