About MeThis is a model of a type not an actual boat. The distinctive layout of this trawler, with the funnel forward of the bridge, was peculiar to the Humber fishing ports. This design came about because the earliest steam trawlers were beam trawlers, whose skippers stood close to the stern, where the beam was worked. The design was retained when the otter board trawl was introduced in the 1890s. Their layout earned these trawlers the nickname 'Hansom cabs' because the hansom cab had its driver's seat at the rear.
