About MeOne of a group of photographs taken for inclusion in the book Oil Rush published in 1975. The images are a snapshot of the activity and its impact upon Aberdeen and the wider area.
In 1975 Aberdeen and the surrounding area had a chronic lack of housing to cater for the rapidly expanding population moving into the area in the wake of the offshore activity. Many villages in the Formartine or just south of the city rapidly expanded. However housing costs rose steeply and deprived many people in less well paid employment of a chance of housing.
At the time Aberdeen had a number of parks of temporary or 'mobile' housing.
