About MeBlack and white photograph depicting the Djemaâ El Fna a crowded marketplace in Marrakech where goods are bought and sold, and acrobats, musicians and snake charmers perform.

James McBey created several paintings and etchings with the Djemaâ El Fna as the subject, and these photographs, taken mainly by himself or Marquerite, formed part of his research.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this photograph.
