About MeBlack and white photograph, with negative, depicting James McBey with friend and art collector H. H. Kynett at the Boothbay Harbour in Maine. Kynett and his family had a holiday home "Harbour Lights" on the Maine Coastline, where James and Marguerite stayed in 1940. Both James and Kynett were avid sailors and Kynett owned a boat "The Bad Penny" which was moored at the end of his garden. It was from this boat that James sketched the landscape and crew. These sketches were then used to illustrate Kynett's privately printed book "Maine Harbour - Adventures in Relaxation."

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this photograph.
