About MeSepia photograph taken by A.C. Cooper commercial photographers of an oil painting of James McBey, painted by Gerald Brockhurst. The portrait was originally owned by American Banker and art collector, Albert Wiggin. In 1941 Wiggin donated his collection of several thousand art works, including pieces by Henri Fantin-Latour, Francisco Goya, Honoré Daumier, George Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and this portrait of James McBey, to the Boston Public Library.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this photograph.
