The timber bracing in this section of tunnel is very sturdy and the tunnel appears to be of large diameter, suggesting this is the south end of St Fitticks tunnel. This roughly 350 feet long stretch was rocky and required blasting. The stout timbering was needed to take the extreme weight above. It took nearly 18 months to complete.
