About MeBlack and white photograph of a Caledonian Engineering Company building located at 22 Justice Mill Lane, Aberdeen. McBey rented a loft in this building, which was originally a stable, for £8 a year in 1905 and used it as his studio. He used the building for a year until the lease expired in the autumn of 1906.

This Calendonian Engineering Cmpnay building has now been demolished, but the pillar on the front left of the photograph can still be seen on Justice Mill Lane. It is located between Holburn House and the original O'Donoghues building, where there is now a car park between the two.

The photograph is kept within a hardback photograph album, with faux leather overlay, along with a series of other related images.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this photograph.
