About MeIn the course of his duties, McBey visited Le Havre and from there he walked to Harfleur. On the 6th December 1916, he noted in his diary, "Went to munitions factory at Harfleur and sketched workers in firelight. Hope I shall be able to do something with it."
The first etchings he made in France were of subjects behind the lines and here he captures the intense labour of the workers at the Schneider armament factory.
