About MeAction Man is an articulated toy figure which was launched in Britain in 1966 by Palitoy as a licensed copy of Hasbro's American G.I. Joe action figure.

Action Man was originally produced and sold in the United Kingdom and Australia by Palitoy Ltd of Coalville, Leicestershire from 1966 until 1984. Between 1966 and 1969 Action Man was based on G.I. Joe, which had been patented by Hasbro (Palitoy's parent company) in 1966. There were initially three Action Man figures to choose from Action Soldier, Action Sailor and Action Pilot. Initially their uniforms were based on those worn by American Armed Forces who fought during the Second World War (1939-1945) and the Korean War (1950-1953). Later uniforms and outfits were made based on those worn by British Forces.
