About MeThis sketchbook contains many charming sketches by James Watterson Herald, many being views of his home town of Arbroath, which he details using its old name of Aberbrothock and nearby Auchmithie and Broughty Ferry. Two of the drawings, however, are clearly the work of an amateur, and are signed or initialled by M.A. Anderson.Herald depicts castles, castellated buildings, market stalls and the townspeople walking through leafy streets and in the park. He also sketches several women, taking great care to describe in detail their fashionable costumes. Dated 1890, this sketchbook gives a wonderful insight into the life of east Scotland in the late 19th century.
