About MeCarte de visite of a 3/4 length man leaning on a pedestal with a book on it with his left arm, in his right hand he is holding a cane. His hair is styled neatly and he has a moustache, sideburns and is wearing a long double-breasted jacket, white shirt and dark necktie. He has a ring on his right hand, possibly a signet ring. There is a number written in pencil on the reverse side: 'PH3909.' The photographer's details appear in full on the reverse side, c. 1880s-1890s.Inscribed underneath the photograph "R.STEWART, PHOTO ELGIN"
