About MeThe "Thrift" was built at Hall Russell’s shipyard in 1931 for the Northern Co-operative Society and made the journey from Blyth, Northumberland to Aberdeen with coal twice a month. As such the ship was a regular and popular sight in the harbour until her last journey with coal from Methil, Fife in 1968.
