About MeAn unusual painted dress, illustrating the change at the end of the 1930s and beginning of the 1940s, when short dresses became fashionable for evening wear. The dress has several of the 1930s design features which survived into the next decade, such as decorative ruching down the front bodice and padded shoulders. It also has quite a low waistline for the period and two darts on the sleeve at the elbow. Black taffeta fabric has been painted with yellow, green, red, blue, and gold flowers.
