About MeApron from nurse's uniform comprising blue cotton dress and belt, red wool cape, white cotton apron, cap and cuffs.

This uniform was worn by Flora Davidson during the First World War and dates to around 1912. Clothes which provide both identification and protection are frequently found in hospitals. The nurse's dress and cap or the doctor's white coat became stereotypical images of the job. Nowadays the nurse's uniform is quite different. Caps are no longer worn but trousers are, which is more practical.
