About MeThis detailed pastel study of a saxophone is one of only three known original sketches relating to Souter's 1926 oil painting, 'The Breakdown'. The controversial work, which the artist later destroyed, shocked interwar Britain with its image of a nude white woman dancing to jazz music, played on the saxophone by a black musician.
