About MeL shaped sectional black rubber mats. Each made up of flattened cube sections with an alloy stud in middle. Each mat has a impressed MURCHISON on upper face. The mats were originally installed on the platform in 1980 when it started production and made specifically for the platform. They were taken from the drill deck and transported ashore on the last helicopter flight from the installation before dismantling proper began in 2017. Their removal was documented by Sue Jane Taylor who witnessed the final abandonment and decomissioning process.
Such equipment is important especially on the drill deck where there is a lot of drilling and other fluid spills to prevent workers slipping and injuring themselves.
