About MeFollowing the Union of the Crowns of Scotland and England in 1603, James VI continued to mint separate coinages for each country.

The copper two pence which was issued in Scotland in 1614 and again in 1623 was not only a useful low-value coin but also an attractively designed type bearing a triple-headed thistle on one side and a bold lion rampant on the other. An unusual feature is the indication of the value by two dots behind the lion's tail.
