About MeFaed painted a number of versions of this subject. In this particular painting the landscape setting has a notable immediacy and veracity and despite Faed's remarkable visual memory and powers of invention, we assume that he employed some means of direct observation, perhaps in the form of a watercolour sketch.

The central female figure bears a physical resemblance to the model who appears elsewhere in Faed's work - Susan Faed, the artist's sister. Faed has not been able to dispel entirely the interior studio lighting which models the human form. As a result, the figure stands somewhat uncomfortably in the fresh, open air landscape.
