It is possible that this vessel was the DUKE OF GORDON of 1773 renamed FRIENDALYKE in 1801 which is noted as having been stranded. It may have been refloated and renamed L'ESPOIR, the dates and tonnages co-incide with FRIENDALYKE's Master Last, becoming the owner of L'ESPOIR, 'Tast'. Since this is tentative and may be co-incidental two records have been retained as separate ships.
