About MePioneering medical officer Matthew Hay was appointed to the Chair of Forensic Medicine at the University of Aberdeen in 1883, aged 27. He had a brilliant mind and was an outstanding researcher. These glass slides date from 1875 and belonged to Matthew. The wooden box contains six trays of thin specimen slides, each displaying tissues of different animals including cat, frog and dog as well as human samples. Each glass slide is hand labelled and dated.
