About MeThe documentary ‘You’ve Been Trumped’ (2011), directed by British filmmaker Anthony Baxter, tells the story of the proposed Trump golf resort at Menie, near Balmedie, just north of Aberdeen. It details the struggle of local residents to keep their homes, which Donald Trump sought to acquire via Aberdeenshire Council, using its powers of compulsory purchase.

The Trump planning application was a significant event in the history of the north-east. Councillor Martin Ford was the chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Services Committee that decided (on his casting vote) to refuse planning permission. This poster was given to Councillor Ford, as one of principal protagonists in the political battle over the planning permission and whether the resort (and Mr Trump) should be welcomed or repudiated. Trump also objected to the 11 turbines make up the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) because he claimed it would spoil the view from his resort and lost a legal battle to prevent the development.

Anthony Baxter gifted the poster to Dr Martin Ford at the Scottish premiere of the film at the Belmont Picturehouse cinema on 17 June 2011. The poster is signed by attendees at the Denver Film Festival in 2011, where the film received an early screening and won the Maysles Brothers Award for Best Documentary Film. Essentially, the annotations are messages of support and approval for Ford and the residents of Menie.
