About MeA small stoneware vase with swelling body, short neck and collared rim. It is glazed in brown and grey slips, speckled with black. It was made by Michael Casson who, along with Victor Magrie, established the well respected Studio Pottery Course at Harrow School of Art, London, in the early 1960s.
Casson and his wife Sheila established a pottery at Wobage Farm in Herefordshire in 1977. There he specialised in salt-glazed stoneware and blended his own slips (liquid clay) and glazes. When salt was introduced to the kiln at a high temperature the distinctive colours and textures for which Casson is known, were produced.
