About MePorcelain jug with tapering body and short neck and lip. Simple strap handle with thumb piece. There are distinct potting rings inside the jug and a smooth exterior.It is glazed all over in a pale blue celadon glaze, pooling to the foot of the jug and becoming almost pearl white in colour around rim and handle edges.
Celadon is a type of glaze which originated in China and spread to other parts of East Asia. Iron oxide is added to create shades of pale green and blue and with the addition of a greater amount of iron oxide, in colours as dark as olive green and black.
