About MeCurved iron bar set diagonally with nine small segments of diamond bearing matrix in the central outer edge. The medium used to set the diamond section is unknown but is white in colour. Weight 2 kg.

This shotting iron was used to finish off stone work by hand. They were rubbed across the stone like a file, but it was the iron shot (applied to the stone manually) which was the real abrasive. Masons at Ruddiman's yard added diamond inserts to the working face of this example to facilitate smoothing and finishing process.
