About MeThis slip-glazed jug is a smaller version of Clive Bowen's tall "Medieval-style" jugs. It features a long neck and rounded belly flaring to the foot, a rolled rim and strap handle with prominent join to the body where the potter's thumb has applied pressure to the clay.
The jug is decorated in the tradition of English slip-ware in deep yellow ochre and green slips and dark brown leaf motifs on either side of the handle.
Bowen built his own wood-fired kilns for the production of domestic earthenwares at his North Devon pottery. He makes a wide selection of useful pieces for the preparation, cooking and serving of food and drink, ranging from giant store jars to everyday jugs and dishes.
