About MeScott Smith made this spoon while he was Artist in Residence at Glasgow School of Art. He learned to carve wooden spoons while in Portsoy Scouts, whittling tent pegs and spoons throughout the different age groups at various scout camps across Scotland. He continued this hobby during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown and used it as a meditative connection to the landscape. He saved every single wood chip from that process and has used his favourites in his contemporary silverware designs. The texture on the tip of the handle of this spoon was created by a cast wood chip.
