It is fabric 8 which is defined as a fine textured reddish local fabric in 'Excavations in the Medieval Burgh of Aberdeen 1973-81'. The sherd is unstratified and bears the code BE given by the excavating team. There is a small circular paper label adhered to the sherd with the number 18.
