About MeGrayson Perry has focussed much of his career on making spectacular ceramic pots. This example was made by coiling long rolls of clay in a circle, layer upon layer. Then the walls of the pot were finished by scraping and smoothing.
It takes an enormous amount of skill to create such a perfectly symmetrical hand-built pot using this ancient technique. Featured on the pot is Perry’s childhood teddy bear, Alan Measles, and the artist’s alter ego, Claire.
