About MeKing Edward I silver penny belonging to Aberdeen's St Nicholas Street hoard. Found in 1984, this hoard comprises 2538 coins, including coins from England, Scotland, Ireland and the continent, as well as 54 imitation coins.

Obverse: Forward facing crowned head with broad, curling hair framed with text inscription.
Reverse: Centrally placed long cross with three pellets in each corner and text ringing the outer edge.
Manufacture Method: Hammered
Condition: The coin is in poor condition. The reverse has clear central details and legible text, bar one worn segment. The obverse has a nearly fully smoothed king portrait, with only the trifoliate crown still slightly visible, and mostly legible text, bar two worn letters. The coin also has 6mm split formed on the portrait's lower left and appears to have been clipped.
