About MeMegan Falconer is an Aberdeen based jeweller and silversmith who creates handcrafted tools, vessels and jewellery using cast rocks from the Scottish landscape.Falconer’s first tool, the ‘Stonehaven’ hammer, was made in Dundee whilst studying at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. The hammer was made by casting a rock found during a day out to the Aberdeenshire town.
Soft metal is used to make the hammerhead and the texture alters through the process, achieving unique and unexpected surfaces each time it is used. A connection is then formed between the found object, the tool it makes and the piece that is created.
Megan’s handmade tools are used to raise, planish and texture silver vessels. Her 'Stonehaven' bowl, also in our collection, was the first made using the hammer.
