During Anne's reign Scottish and English money was made equal in design and value so that the only means of distinguishing the Scottish product is the letter E (denoting Edinburgh Mint) which appears on the obverse below the queen's bust.
The 1707 crown is one of six Scottish silver coins from the reign of Queen Anne bequeathed to the city of Aberdeen by local numismatist John Innes in 1924.
