About MeThis brown corded silk bodice dates from the 1860s and was worn with a full crinoline. By the early 1910s this style was no longer fashionable and to avoid wasting the luxurious silk, the dress was remodelled in 1911. A plainer top was added to a much reduced skirt. The refashioned dress is within our holdings. It was worn by Elizabeth Emslie at her wedding in St Nicholas Church, Aberdeen, on 27 June 1911.
